What inspires you? This is what inspires me…
More and more, I am fascinated and amazed with how the natural environment organizes around and recovers from geological processes, disruptions like fires and weather events, and the impact of human activities. I challenge anyone who does not stand in awe of the Earth’s mighty rivers, majestic mountains, rugged coastlines, and vast canyons. Additionally, these incredible landscapes are the habitats of millions of species of flora and fauna. Every time I venture out into nature, I learn something new. I believe Albert Einstein said it best, “Look deep into nature and then you will understand everything better.”

Wildlife photography is one of the most challenging and rewarding forms of photography. Being patient, stealthy, and observant enough to make a good image of wildlife that is usually weary and erratic in behavior is notable. I am in awe of the incredible images produced by Michelle Valberg, Roman Kurywczak, David Yarrow, and many others. My observation though is that many believe they must travel to far away exotic locations to see interesting wildlife. However, I am amazed at the diversity of wildlife that can simply be found in city and county parks, which so many miss because they are on their phone and fail to look up or left and right. Big or small, there is so much incredible wildlife to view and enjoy, and worthy of our protection and conservation. Take a trip to your local park and see what you can discover.

We love to watch programs and events where people test the limits of their physical and mental abilities. Whether it be organized sports or individual challenges, capturing the success or impacts of these feats has long been an interest of many photographers. I am not much different. I admire the drive, perseverance, and endurance demonstrated by these incredible athletes and performers (both human and not). I have just begun expanding my portfolio in this area and I expect it to grow extensively over the next few years.
